Balustrades

bal·us·trade (bl-strd) NOUN:

A rail and the row of balusters or posts that support it, as along the front of a gallery.

Balustrade is often a mis-used word where staircases are concerned.

The Word Balustrade incorporates the entire staircase and includes the treads, risers, newels, handrail and all trim and hardware as a single unit.

ETYMOLOGY:

French, from Italian balaustrata, from balaustro, baluster.

Since 1994, Westfire has been one of the leading online suppliers for top-quality stair parts and balustrade components. More than simply providing an online catalog, however, the team at Westfire brings to our business nearly 30 years' experience in building stairs ourselves. When you buy from Westfire, you're buying from people who know how to build a beautiful staircase.

Exceptional Woods for an Exceptional Product

We offer a full line of exceptional select-grade woods, including red oak (the preferred standard for stain grade), white hard maple, poplar, and American cherry. We also take custom orders for balustrades and can provide more exotic woods such as Brazilian cherry, mahogany, alder, and birch for these, as well. Quality is our focus at Westfire, and our balustrades are no exception; each one is turned from a single piece of wood.

No matter what style you're building in, from Craftsman to Colonial, from Sheraton to Hampton, Westfire has the components you need, in stock, and at reasonable prices. After eleven years working online, we've honed our list of vendors to the very best, which is why more builders trust Westfire to supply them with the finest stair parts available. Have a look through our online catalog today.

When you're building stairs, whether for yourself or for clients, you can't do a half-baked job and you can't use a half-baked product. Count on Westfire to provide you with the highest quality balustrades and other stair parts, based on our years of direct experience. We ship our pieces all over the world and enjoy doing our part to promote the building of superb staircases.
