The Parikh Staircase was a remodel, changing out newels and balusters, but keeping the existing handrail. Wood balusters were removed, leaving a 5/8” hole under the handrail, which doesn’t work well with 1/2” iron balusters. To overcome this, the carpenter installed shoes top and bottom. |
